24 Apr | 2025

To commemorate the day of the departure of Sri Sathya Sai Baba from this transient life, and pay homage to the grand work of the great spiritual guru, we, the teachers and students of Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar School Kolkata, had organized a little project on the 24th of April. The project was to observe three of the Pancha Yagnya , Deva Yagnya, Bhuta Yagnya and Nara Yagnya on the day of the occasion, and to observe the remaining two of the ‘Pancha Yagnya’, ie. Brahma Yagnya and Pitri Yagnya on the 6th of May, also known as the Ishwaramma Diwas.

On 24th April, we started our day by observing Deva Yagnya, chanting veda and Sai Gayatri accompanied by 6 Bhajanas, Om Tat Sat and Mangal Arati, paying homage to the great guru. Afterwards, the male students from Classes VIII, IX and X observed the Bhuta Yagnya by participating in the community cleaning of the school premises as well as the surroundings and planted saplings. The female students from Classes VIII, IX and X participated in the Nara Yagnya by preparing Lassi for the students as well as the passersby. The male students, after the cleaning and plantation of saplings, distributed the lassi among at least 500 passersby and female students distributed lassi among at least 350 students. Also, after that, a drawing competition was organized on the themes of:

(i) environmental issues,

(ii) services to parents, and

(iii) services to community. 82 students had participated.

On Ishwaramma Diwas, we have planned to organize the Brahma Yagnya by arranging a quiz competition among the students on the importance of Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s meaningful life. After that, to observe the Pitri Yagnya, we have decided to organize a ‘Paada Puja’ programme at the school.
